In 2008, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that Wyoming had the worst occupational fatality rate in the nation at 17.1 fatalities per 100,000 workers — more than four times the national average.

To address this statewide concern, the Wyoming Oil and Gas Industry Safety Alliance (WOGISA) was formed in 2010 to promote safety and health improvement for the oil and gas exploration, production, transmission and refining industries in Wyoming.

WyomingSafety.org was created in partnership with WOGISA, the Wyoming Contractors Association, and the Petroleum Association of Wyoming. This website is intended to serve as a resource of information to assist large and small oil and gas operations in Wyoming to make safety a priority.
